The only person ever documented to have been
Only Human Hit By A Meteorite is Ann Hodges, an Alabama woman. The extraordinary event occurred on November 30, 1954, in the small town of Sylacauga. Ann Hodges was napping on her couch when a meteorite—about the size of a grapefruit and weighing 8.5 pounds (3.8 kg)—plummeted through the roof of her home. The meteorite bounced off a large wooden console radio before striking her on the side of her body, leaving her with a deep bruise but no serious injuries.
This incident made Hodges a worldwide sensation. The meteorite, known as the Sylacauga meteorite or the Hodges meteorite, became famous. However, the situation led to a prolonged legal battle between the Hodges family and their landlord over the ownership of the space rock. Ultimately, Hodges retained the meteorite, which she later donated to the Alabama Museum of Natural History. Ann Hodges’ encounter remains the only known case of a human being struck by a meteorite, making it an incredibly rare event in recorded history.
